ST. LOUIS, Missouri, July 28, 2026 – Four Paws Press LLC announces the release of Mia Keeps Watch, the second book in the Four Paws Rescue Tales series. Written and illustrated by D. Schrader, the new children’s picture book will be available for purchase on Amazon beginning August 4, 2026.
Mia is a small black Labrador mix who has learned to watch everything carefully. At the animal shelter, she watches the doors, the people, and the families who come and go. When a family finally stops beside her kennel and gives her a chance, Mia begins a journey from uncertainty to belonging.
As Mia settles into her new home, she discovers that she does not have to stop being watchful. Instead, she learns that her alert nature can help protect the people around her. During a family hike, Mia notices something others have missed and proves that even a quiet rescue dog can make a very big difference.
Written for children ages 3 to 7, Mia Keeps Watch is a gentle story about trust, patience, courage, and finding purpose. The book also helps young readers understand that rescue animals may need time to feel safe and that qualities shaped by difficult experiences can sometimes become valuable strengths.

Mia Keeps Watch follows Kierra Goes to Camp, the first book in the Four Paws Rescue Tales series. In Kierra’s story, another rescue dog learns to move beyond her uncertain past, trust her new family, and find friendship and adventure at a lakeside camp. Together, the books celebrate rescue dogs whose lives change when someone gives them patience, kindness, and a place to belong.
The Four Paws Rescue Tales series is part of the growing collection of children’s books published by Four Paws Press.
